Edo Motorsports went to Willow Springs International Raceway to try to
take over the H4 championship points lead.
The car was equipped with a fire system for increased safety.
The EdoMoto Acura Integra, piloted by Edik
Stepanyan, qualified in 5th place out of 13 cars with a 1:36.274 lap
time due to the qualifying session being cancelled.
Edik was able to get by the first 2 Honda CRX’s ahead of him
after 2 laps to be in 3rd place.
Edik was going faster than Terri Rossi through the last turn and had to
go off-track in order to avoid a collision.
Edik still carried more speed and was about to pass Rossi for 2nd
place when the engine lost some power.
Edik limped the car to the finish and finished in 8th place.
It was discovered that one of the rocker arms had broken off and
the car was running on 3 out of the 4 cylinders.
Luckily there was not much damage to the engine and the rocker
arm was replaced for Sunday’s race.
For the 2nd race of the weekend Edik put the Integra in second place
with only a tenth of a second behind Manny Coats and a tenth of a second
ahead of Terri. Edik powered by
Manny at the start and never looked back as he took 1st place in H4.
With the win, Edik jumped ahead of James Landry to be in 1st
place in the championship standings.
The Edomoto Integra will be out at Buttonwillow on
June 8 for the Grassroots Motorsports magazine Ultimate Track Car
Challenge.
