Infineon was pretty fun,
even though we weren't there Sunday.
We were probably the last ones to leave Socal at about 10pm on
Friday. We got to Infineon a couple hours before the gates
opened.
We got in after the track crew came and set up next to Jeremy
and Rick Hohwart, where Jeremy saved us a spot.
The pits were pretty cramped up even though all the trailers had
to be parked in a different lot.
We got ready for pratice and Edik took it easy to learn the new
track, but only got in 3 lapd because of the sentra/crx
incident. During Qualifying Steve Elllseworth and Rick H. pulled
away in the beginning, but at the end of the session, Edik
learned the trakc quickly and started to real them in and was
able to learn the track quick enough and take POLE. awesome job.
The Standing start for the race was very nice and took a while
to get it set up since there were so many Hondas. Edik's
drag racing experience came into play as he took off and
passed a couple of H1 cars, but soon had the rest of the H4 pack
behind him. He dropped a couple of tires here and there but
still kept it on the track as he was still getting used to the
track. He started to pull away from the pack but misshifted
before the last turn and had to pull off into the pits.
I was bummed out that that happened because he was starting to
do better each lap around.
We got home on Sunday at about 5pm, unpacked and started to remove the engine from the car. We found out that the valves had dropped into one of the cylinders and put a nice big hole in the piston. So we're now left engineless and have to figure out something before the next race at Willow
Even though our weekend was cut short it was fun to see all the
Honda Challenge cars. I think there was about 30 of them and
only in H4 and H1. I think the biggest HC gathering so far. Hope
its bigger next year.
I'd like to thank our sponsors for helping us out.
